Southern Luxi

The region south of Mangshi is little explored, full of Dai and Jingpo villages
The road south of Mangshi first leads to Qupa 去帕, a Dai village with a large pagoda and a hot-spring, eight kilometres south of the prefectural capital. One branch of the road then runs westwards to Mengjia 勐戛, while another branch continues south to Zhongshan 中山, which became only important as an administrative centre at the beginning of the 20th century, when the region south was ceded to British Burma.
