The Huayao Dai are some of the snappiest dressers in the province. Their elaborate costumes, lavishly decorated with silver ornaments, and topped off with a bamboo hat worn at an angle is very striking. And while on most days only the older women don their this expensive dress, during the Flower Street Festival, held with a giant market around the 13th day of the lunar year, all the young women drag out their costume and get on their feet to dance.
