Wooden Drum Festival 木鼓节

The Wooden Drum Festival, held just before the Watersplashing Festival in nearby areas, is one of the attempts of Ximeng county to put itself on the tourism map.

In past years the festival consisted of large staged dance events, but apparently the government overspent a bit on all this without receiving the expected return, so it is unclear if the festival is still being held in this form. There were rumours that the festival is being moved to the old Ximeng town.
