Baoshan Stone Town 宝山石头城

A small, but beautiful village, perched on a rocky outcrop above the Jinsha River, is the attraction in this remote area.

Baoshan is a small Naxi village on the western side of the Jinsha river. Its location made the village once easy defendable, but that did not help when the Mongol troups passed by when the invaded the Dali Kingdom in the 13th century. Then this village became the seat of the local administration.

Today, it is mostly the old people who remain in this village. There are hiking opportunities around, but because of the dam on the Jinsha, the old road along the river is now submerged.

Nearby is Wumu village.
