Anning county, just to the west of Kunming, is famous for its hot springs, but with the giant steelworks and as the end point of the pipeline from Burma it is also one of Yunnan's most important industrial centers.
The vast majority of the population is Han, of course, but there are also a number of Bai settlements and a few thousand Dahua Miao, who arrived at the beginning of the 20th century.
